March FAQ

 

Plan Your March Day FAQ

 
 

What should I bring?

  • Small backpacks and bags are allowed. We recommend you fill them with water and snacks for the day.

  • Comfortable shoes

  • Layers (the weather can be pretty unpredictable so it's good to be prepared for anything!)

  • Rain gear

  • A reusable water bottle - we will have a water station available.

What should I not bring?

  • Any weapons, or anything that can be construed as a weapon

  • Large items like chairs (unless needed for accessibility) and coolers (small, personal-carry coolers are permissible)

  • Alcohol

  • Any illegal drugs

Where do i park?

  • Parking on the Capitol Grounds - including metered parking - is available and free throughout the weekend.

  • The Laidley Field parking lot is available for overflow.

  • Refer to this parking map for lot locations.

Where is the rally?

The rally will be held on the steps of the south plaza. Refer to this rally map for rally layout.

WHat facilities will be available?

Public restrooms within the capitol building will be available for our use. You can access restrooms at the west wing security entrance and the east West Virginia State Museum entrance, indicated on this map.

Who will be speaking and performing?

Will there be t-shirts for sale?

There will be t-shirts for sale at the March. They will be $20 and available at the Women’s March WV table. Supplies will be limited, but if your size is sold out, you can purchase a Women’s March Charleston 2019 shirt at our online store. The store also features additional shirt designs and styles, and other accessories as well.

Will the march and rally be accessible?

  • The march will be .68 miles in length and will remain on flat sidewalk. There are no up or down steps required. The march begins and ends at the rally location. For details, refer to the route map.

  • An ADA section will be located directly in front of the rally steps to the left of the speakers and will be open to those who require it.

  • American Sign Language interpretation will be provided for the rally and will be located to the right of the speakers.

  • Hospitality items will be available at the Women’s March West Virginia table with basic first aid supplies, water, snacks, and other support items available.

Will there be an after party?

We have arranged for three locations to serve as after party locations within Charleston.
